Daggerford, Investigation and Gang Busting, Session Nine

I took some time the next day to scry on the young heroes, and found them busy doing as I suspected. It appears like I had figured; they had done much shopping, re-equipping, and information gathering. After an entire day of taking care of business and searching for some ranger by the name of Fester Trollump, the group took its leave for the eve. The next day as I scried on the group and found them in the middle of selling the baby owl bear. It was what happened next that surprised me most; the group was confronted by the corrupt Sheriff Cubbins and his deputies. Nothing happened; the party kept their cool, and maintained the innocence they surely deserved. I’m sure the Sheriff was just trying to put a scare in them. The remainder of the day concluded with more shopping amongst the merchants of Daggerford, and further spying on the suspected grave robbers. Early that same evening the party decided that they would have to use the info they garnered thru town contacts and meet the gang that evening in the Happy Cow. I eaves dropped on the conversation and listened to the plan they worked out to try and gain info out of the gang of thugs and reprobates. I enjoyed my evening feast with a nice bottle of Sembian red watching the action unfold. Twexlin greeted the albino Half-orc gang leader with info about the owl bear, he tried to coax them into leading them to the farmstead, but it failed. As the gang sat in the Happy Cow drinking and gambling Nyphystra and Cha’ti tried to listen in on what the gang was up to. Grog and Twexlin continued hovering outside the entry, while Azeryth with the use of his innate levitation ability sat upon the roof of a neighboring building. It was not long before two farmers left the happy Cow followed by four of the gangs lesser recruits. It appeared that this was the queue for the heroes to follow. It was not minutes out of the town center and the thugs attempted to rob the farmers, but the adventurers were able to quickly counter the assault. It all happened so fast I was unable to see who killed who, but in the end two thugs died, and two were manacled and dragged out in the country just outside the busy parts of town. The two farmers left in great appreciation, thanking the heroes and hurried off home. I was quite amused by the way the fighter Nyphystra interrogated the duo of surviving thugs, she did well to intimidate, and little blood ended up on her hands or blade. I don’t feel that the duo will abide by the terms, but the fear she placed in them just might stick. What was important was how they gained enough info to lead them to a suspected empty observatory. If I recall not even Reaver was aware that someone had recently gained entry and now called it home. From the sound of it, this could be the lead they were looking for. After releasing the duo with a gold piece each, the young heroes took off for the old observatory on the top of the hill overlooking Daggerford.
