Whispering Cairn, Lair of the Laborers, Session Four

I took a peek at the party to see how they were getting along the last few days, but it wasn’t until today that I realized Grog and Twexlin were nearing the cairn. I decided to concentrate on my observations and see what the party decided to do next. From what I could see the party decided to explore the fallen shaft below the green lantern. I see that they were much more prepared as Grog and Twexlin divided the mundane items they purchased in town. I was also happy to see that Reaver was able to provide the adventurers with the bundle of healing potions I procured for them. The party secured a rope and climbed down to the lower level as Azeryth the wizard used his innate ability to levitate as he helped stabilize Cha’ti’s animal companion “Shadow”. The party dropped down into what is known by historical data as the Lair of the Laborers. The party quickly found themselves scurrying into tactical positions as they prepared for another beetle swarm, but this time they were on the offensive, and ready to ambush the swarm. As Nyphystra threw a piece of debris at the beetle colonies hive, Twexlin, Grog, and Cha’ti readied with both magic and mundane weapons. The swarm quickly attacked along with a Giant Bombardier Stag Beetle. Nyphystra cleaved the Stag with a mighty blow killing it in one swipe. Grog and Twexlin both hurled flasks of alchemist fire at the swarm causing fiery damage. Azeryth launched a magic missile, and Cha’ti completed the swarms destruction by producing flame and launching it into the swarms mass. The swarm dissipated, and the party re-grouped to explore further. While Cha’ti and Grog explored the east room, Twexlin and Nyphistra explored the west room Azeryth stood watch wary of the tunnel leading to the north. The west room had another Giant beetle that staggered out of the room as Twexlin stuck it with an arrow. The beetle responded with an attack of itself by spitting acid hitting both the ranger and Nyphistra. The two of them were able to quickly dispatch the beetle before they completed the exploration of the room. The room contained a stone guardian that seems to be in watch over the eight bed like slabs; one slab contained a skeletal person laying in eternal sleep. Nyphystra secured the skeleton and his red leather while Twexlin stood guard. In the eastern room Grog and Cha’ti with the help of Shadow were able to unearth three corpses that were buried in the hive, as well as some orange pasty gruel that slowly seeped out of a basin. From what I could see, it looks like both rooms provided some items of interest that was appraised by all then I saw Azeryth must have casted detect magic. His spell showed a ring, a pearl, and three potions detect magically. I assumed the red leather armor was only of masterwork quality, but what interested me was that it had a Seeker symbol upon its left breast. I can only assume that the last explorers within this cairn were of the unscrupulous organization of Oghma. The party then continued exploring the north tunnel. They found some tool maker alcoves, and a half submerged room which looked to have more rooms exiting it. The party appeared to hesitate on what to do next, but I assume a rest was at hand since the majority of the casters spells were depleted.
