Forgotten Realms: Age of Worms
A deal made, Infiltrating the Mine, Session Fifteen
After the heroes finished another night of dining with the demanding, and insatiably greedy Balabar Smenk, a deal had been made. It appears they agreed on a deal with the avarice mine manager, I was not privy to the details, but I was informed that they were going to infiltrate one of the local mines. From what I gathered the mine is operated by another powerful mine manager by the name of Derval Ironeater. I myself have only dealt with Derval through his Illefarn Covenant; a very successful trading company based in Daggerford, it is said they have ties to the powerful Dwarven realm of Illefarn, but not much more is known. I think this is something I may have to research on my own. Speaking to Reaver leaves me to believe some sort of cult is operating out of the lower levels of the Ironeater Mine. Maybe this is the lead we have been looking for. I’m sure this foray will lead to trouble, but I’m not so sure making a deal with a ruthless man such as Balabar Smenk was wise. He has many contacts and a hand in the local authority. I just hope that the heroes know what they are getting into this time.
As I continued to monitor the progress of the adventurers I realized it was quite a smart plan to get inside the mine or at least gather intel on what they are up against. As Grog scouted the mine, the party was able to bribe a wagon supply driver to usher them in and out of the mines staging area. After some reconnoitering by Grog, the party was able to find a secret entry that lead to an elevator shaft that lead down into the darkness. As I watched the progress I felt a foreboding presence reach through while I scryed as if trying to smother me. I quickly ended my divination and hurried to prepare myself for future attempts. I just pray that Tymora keeps the heroes safe as I try and gather my powers to continue to observe them.
